This role involves working with individuals who have complex communication needs and require specialized devices or strategies to communicate effectively. Interns gain hands-on experience assessing clients, recommending AAC tools, and implementing communication interventions under the supervision of a licensed SLP. This internship provides valuable real-world practice for those pursuing a career in AAC within speech-language pathology.

What are some common challenges faced during an AAC SLP internship and how can interns overcome them?

During an AAC SLP internship, interns often encounter challenges such as adapting to diverse client needs, selecting appropriate communication devices, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. To overcome these challenges, interns should communicate regularly with their supervisors, seek feedback, and participate actively in team meetings.
