What Are Internet Car Sales Jobs?

Internet car sales jobs include positions in customer service, financing, and sales management. In an online role, you may work from an automotive dealership to buy and sell cars, answer questions from customers, and perform any other jobs necessary to succeed as an internet car salesman. Despite the online nature of this job, most employers do not allow remote work. Dealers usually have physical lots, and you may be asked to examine cars or even live-stream video of on-site vehicles to potential buyers. Like offline car dealers, internet car salesmen often work as part of a larger team to close deals, so the ability to communicate with coworkers is essential to your success.

How much does an internet car salesman make?

An internet car salesman typically earns a base salary plus commissions, with total earnings ranging from $40,000 to $80,000 annually depending on sales performance and experience. Successful salespeople who excel at online lead generation and customer communication can earn higher commissions and bonuses.

How does the Internet Car Sales role typically interact with other dealership departments to close sales?

In an Internet Car Sales role, you'll collaborate closely with the sales floor team, finance department, and service staff to ensure a seamless customer experience from online inquiry to vehicle delivery. You’ll often coordinate with sales managers to finalize pricing, work with finance to secure loan approvals, and communicate with service to schedule vehicle prep. Strong teamwork and clear communication are essential, as your ability to bridge online leads with in-person dealership operations is key to closing deals efficiently and maintaining customer satisfaction.
