Job Description:
At Louisiana State University, we believe in being a magnet for global talent. With nearly 2,000 international students representing 107 countries - including our largest populations from Bangladesh and India - our goal is to provide a gold standard of service that reflects our deep commitment to excellence. To help us achieve this, we are looking for a dedicated Coordinator of International Student Success to join the Office of Global Engagement.
This is a unique, dual-focused position that sits at the heart of our international community. You will split your energy equally between International Student Services (ISS) and the Global Community Center (GCC), ensuring our students have both the immigration and compliance support and the vibrant social home they need to thrive.
Position reports directly to the Director of International Student Engagement with a dotted line of supervision to the Director of International Student Services.
Job Responsibilities
Immigration Compliance and Support (50%)
  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO), maintaining compliance with federal immigration laws.
  • Provide basic immigration advising to all international students, primarily via email communications.
  • Manage the ISS email inbox to ensure the office stays up to date on the workflow and student needs.
  • Coordinate all advising appointments between the ISS staff and students, including the setup, use, and configuration of scheduling software.
  • Schedule and organize meetings and track projects.
  • Manage ISS logistics, including programming such as immigration workshops.
  • Assist with technology needs to streamline the international student experience.
  • Perform general administrative support duties and maintain office records.

International Student Engagement (50%)
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of programs throughout the calendar year, including international orientation, night and weekend events.
  • Assist in overseeing daily GCC operations, including space rentals, catering logistics, facility upkeep, and GCC initiatives.
  • Contribute to the supervision and coordination of student staff, providing guidance and team oversight.
  • Work alongside the Coordinator of International Student Engagement to represent the Global Community Center and provide student services at campus events, outreach initiatives, and tabling opportunities.
  • Assist with the upkeep of and responses to emails in the GCC email account, including responding to general inquiries and referring students to resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Information
This position requires evening, holiday, and weekend hours. The Coordinator must be available for early morning and/or evening programs and special circumstances that may arise. The Coordinator must be eligible to drive as needed on official University business. Scheduling will be coordinated by the supervising Director(s). This position will support both units in a flexible manner, depending on busy seasons, deadlines, staffing needs, etc., as directed by the supervising Director(s).
This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
As mandated by federal regulations, U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence is required to be a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for approval to access the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and thereby perform the duties of this position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience working with students in a university setting.
