Position Title: Student Assistant, Office of International Student Services

FLSA STATUS:ย  Hourly, Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $19.18

Days & Hours:ย  Variable weekly schedule to be established by supervisor. Flexible schedule may require evening and weekend hours during peak periods.

BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF JOB:

Come join a fun and friendly team to provide exceptional services to GGU students as a Student Assistant! The Student Assistant position provides general support to the Office of International Student Services team by serving as the first point of contact for our office suite, performing daily administrative duties, and contributing to ongoing projects. The focus of this position is front-line, world-class customer service โ€“ with great power, comes great responsibility. The ideal candidate is professional, a wizard at organization, responsible, and motivated to take initiative in all aspects of their work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide administrative support to the Office of International Student Services.
  • Document student requests and prepare forms as necessary.
  • Exercise high customer service by managing a visitor/ caller inquiry until resolve is reached.
  • Take the lead in actively listening to inquiries, patiently explaining school procedures, and then seeking staff assistance when necessary.
  • Utilize various software to update student and employer information.
  • Continuously learn about updates to school policy/ procedures and share learned information.
  • Answer in-person and phone inquiries.
  • Take mail to and retrieve mail from the mail room.
  • Create flyers and other marketing materials for the office that would appeal to GGU students.
  • Troubleshoot office equipment.
  • Stay knowledgeable about student services and upcoming events.
  • Provide support for on campus events.
  • Offer perspectives and opinions as a student to enhance our services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Education requirement:
    • Must be a currently enrolled student at GGU.
  • Direct job-related requirements:
    • Have schedule flexibility during Office of International Student Services office hours, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday and work a minimum of 3 days per week and up to 20 hours per week.
  • Skills and abilities:
    • Experience in clerical assistance and customer service preferred.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.
    • Ability to prioritize and work independently.
    • High attention to detail.
    • An attitude for taking the initiative in accurately completing detailed tasks, paying attention to deadlines, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency using MS Office and comfortable learning new technologies.
    • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when something is unclear.
    • Willingness to give input regarding how existing processes might be improved.
    • Knowledge of services provided by Office of International Student Services.
    • Initiative and aptitude to learn new programs.
    • Must be highly sensitive to issues of confidentiality.
    • This position spends most time in a shared office suite with minimal privacy.
    • Lift up to 25lbs. Lifting and carrying of tables and display materials may be required when setting up events, as well as other heavy items within the office.
