Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage direct reports and lead interdisciplinary teams to establish concrete construction methods and support activities. You will oversee all concrete operations including batch plant setup, maintenance, operations, raw material procurement, concrete production, placement planning, equipment selection, curing programs, temperature monitoring, and cold weather concreting. You will lead the concrete organization through the Lead Concrete Superintendent, Lead Concrete Field Engineer, and Concrete Batch Plant Coordinator while ensuring work is executed safely, within budget, and in accordance with project quality and schedule objectives.
Safety is a Value and is expected to be integrated into every aspect of planning and execution.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all project concrete operations including batch plant setup, production, placement, curing, testing, and protection activities.
  • Establish and implement concrete placement schedules, execution plans, Craft Professional staffing plan, equipment requirements, and material procurement strategies.
  • Manages concrete budgets through unit-rate planning, productivity monitoring, forecasting, and cost control measures
  • Oversees procurement and management of concrete raw materials, admixtures, aggregates, and associated consumables required to support project concrete operations.
  • Responsible for oversight and coordination of concrete-related subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Responsible for supervision, development, and performance management of the Lead Concrete Superintendent, Lead Concrete Field Engineer, and Concrete Batch Plant Coordinator.
  • Establishes concrete placement strategies including equipment sizing, pump selection, production capacity planning, and logistics coordination.
  • Ensures compliance with project specifications, quality requirements, testing programs, and concrete acceptance criteria.
  • Responsible for establishing batch plant production capacity, maintenance programs, quality control processes, and material inventory management to support project concrete demand.
  • Ensures compliance with project safety requirements and standards.
  • Maintains effective coordination with construction management, engineering, project controls, procurement, quality, startup, and client representatives.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience managing large-scale industrial concrete operations with onsite batch plant operations is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Concrete Operations Leadership Skills: Lead your Team to provide concrete production, placement, finishing, curing, and overall related concrete works execution on schedule, within budget while safety and quality are never compromised.
  • Technical Concrete Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of batch plant operations, mix designs, concrete placing methods/equipment, curing processes, temperature differential monitoring, and cold weather concrete practices.
  • Budget and Performance Understanding: Experience managing large concrete operations utilizing unit-rate budgets and productivity metrics, with the ability to forecast and controls costs.
  • Safety Leadership: Drive Safety as a Value, while ensuring consistent implementation of project Environmental, Safety and Health requirements and applicable OSHA Standards.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively as the primary interface for concrete operations with Construction Senior Management, Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, and the Client; escalate and resolve issues decisively.
