Job description

Come begin your journey with Leidos by joining a great team in Springfield, VA as a Foundation Data Specialist

This exciting opportunity supports the production and quality assurance of Foundation Data used in map and chart production across multiple scales. The role requires a strong understanding of geography, Foundation Data processes and procedures, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to ensure geospatial data is accurate, complete, current, and mission-ready.

Primary Responsibilities

Produce and review national and international Foundation Data supporting map and chart production at various scales.

Analyze and evaluate Foundation Data for quality assurance, including coverage, accuracy, currency, completeness, and applicability to mission and data requirements.

Participate in technical exchanges with Government and partner personnel at Government facilities, partner locations, and virtual collaboration environments worldwide.

Support Foundation Data production by developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), creating training guides, documenting best practices, and training team members.

Ensure a current and accurate International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) exemption is maintained for all requested support involving partner interactions.

**Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable to support routine interaction with Government customers regarding geospatial products, production activities, and quality assurance reviews. While Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) scores or other formal language certifications are not required, candidates should demonstrate a high level of spoken Spanish proficiency sufficient to communicate effectively in a professional and technical environment. Professional proficiency in reading and writing Spanish is strongly preferred, as it enhances the ability to review, interpret, and produce technical documentation, geospatial products, and quality assurance materials.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and/or 4 - 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 combined points experience points as defined by the customer.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to be approved for a Polygraph.
  • 1-3 years demonstrated experience performing data extraction and Imagery analysis using ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro/MAXAR.
  • 1-3 years demonstrated experience completing timely and accurate foundation data reviews.
  • 1-3 years demonstrated experience performing foundation data quality control / quality assurance analysis using GAIT/QAC software program.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding of and application of foundation data methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience to produce foundation data products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • While Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) scores or other formal language certifications are not required, candidates should possess a high degree of professional proficiency in spoken Spanish to effectively communicate in an operational environment.
  • Proficiency in common the Technical Reference Document TRDv.4.x and UTRDV.1.x.
  • Demonstrated experience to communicate with clarity and accuracy both verbally and written (including virtually environments).
  • Data extraction in support of crisis operations, geospatial Digital Twin, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML).
  • Familiarity with emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, tools, and methodologies, with an understanding of their applications, implications, and integration into daily geospatial and intelligence workflows.
