Job Description
The psychiatrist will perform psychiatric evaluations and provide recommendations on Foreign Service personnel, dependents, and others to determine medical and security clearances. They will offer clinical and administrative support to programmatic offices under the Directorate of Mental Health, including mental health medical evaluation services, family advocacy cases, mental health clearances, and child and family services. Additionally, the psychiatrist will develop policies and procedures related to Mental Health Programs, coordinating all mental health related activities to maximize usefulness and avoid duplication of efforts. They will also train staff on screening for psychiatric conditions and stress management, and maintain accurate medical records. In cases of a catastrophic event or crisis on the grounds of an embassy, consulate, or other Government location, the psychiatrist will provide ambulatory and emergency psychiatric care for employees and dependents.
