The Role
The International Developed Markets team manages five strategies which primarily invest in ex-U.S. small and mid-cap stocks. The team includes three portfolio managers and three analysts who have extensive experience investing in international markets. Given Wasatch's long-term investment horizon, our work is centered around finding great companies with sustainable competitive advantages, long-term earnings growth potential, and exceptional management teams. The analyst will work closely with other team members in analyzing current and potential portfolio companies with a variety of responsibilities including: 1) interviewing company management, their customers, suppliers, and competitors; 2) developing financial projections and valuation analysis; 3) discussing and writing up conclusions and recommendations; 4) running investment screens to source new stock ideas; and 5) international travel.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
  • 7-10 years of relevant industry experience (public buyside, sellside, private equity) with a preference for candidates with international professional or life experience
  • Passion for equity investing and for analyzing stocks across a variety of sectors and countries
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to gather, synthesize and think openly about a variety of perspectives and to form an opinion about company fundamentals and potential investment returns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively gather information and insights and clearly articulate what has been learned and how the team should proceed
  • Strong team skills with the ability to work in a proactive, self-directed manner and the ability to identify how to best contribute to a team (when to lead, when to follow, when to help others)
  • Commitment to excellence and ownership with a demonstrated track record of producing high-quality results across all types of work and tasks; continual cultivation of self-improvement and humility in professional and personal pursuits
