Job description

Position Function:

The Account Representative performs sales, servicing, and operational functions for the bank’s International Mass Market customers including Non-Resident Aliens (NRA) clients. The Account Representative can effectively identify and resolve the customer's banking needs to ultimately expand share of wallet by providing a high level of customer engagement, including but not limited to, deposit and loan growth and cross functional wealth management referrals. The ideal candidate is able to migrate customers to HVC level accounts ($250k+).

Performs all duties and interacts with internal and external customers in a manner that is expressly aligned with the Company's Core Values of approaching all actions with a “Voyaging Spirit” and being “Positively Ohana”. Exhibits core competencies that result in consistent delivery of positive Customer Interactions, Empowerment and Ownership and demonstrates key professional and performance skills such as Active Listening, effective Oral and Written Communication, Action and Solution Oriented and Thoroughness.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Performs fundamental operational tasks such as: account openings, handling all types of consumer and business deposit and loan products, handles all aspects of secured and unsecured consumer loan and personal lines of credit applications, new or renewal of CDs, issues cashiers' checks, prepares wire transaction forms, prepares loan applications, and other banking related functions. Above functions may include discussing and interacting with customers as part of Mass Market sales.
  • Position may have emphasis on customer service functions handling incoming email/ telephone calls from internal/external customers, according to established Call Center standards in a professional manner and taking follow-up action as necessary. Required to periodically provide same service to Japanese customers as branch universal bankers. Provides translation services bank-wide. In addition, manages and assists in the administrative duties and tasks for the group.
  • Manages and grows Mass Market portfolio with safe and profitable opportunities from existing and new clients and sources. Continually works to move these customers into HVC level accounts ($250K+).
  • Ensures daily operational efficiency in compliance with regulations and CPB policies and procedures. Resolves client issues and concerns independently. Interacts with third party vendors on client’s behalf.
  • Demonstrates alignment with bank’s initiatives and contributes to team goals through exceptional service and a focus on growing our existing portfolio.
  • Builds community relationships and partnerships that drives new opportunities and customer acquisitions.
  • Identifies system efficiencies and supports or recommends process improvements.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

International Banking Account Representative I and II:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.

Experience:

International Banking Account Representative I:

  • 2+ years of experience in customer service or related required.
  • Banking experience preferred.

International Banking Account Representative II:

  • 3+ years of experience in customer service or related required.
  • Banking experience preferred.

Functional Skills:

Proficiency in Japanese language required; ability to read, write, and communicate in a business setting.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
