Job description

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations within a multi-business unit warehouse environment. This role ensures efficient, accurate, and cost-effective management of inventory, logistics, staffing, and operational processes across multiple product lines or divisions. The Operations Manager drives performance, safety, service levels, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining alignment with overall financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations across multiple business units.
  • Ensure efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and returns processes.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to meet productivity, accuracy, and service targets.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between business units to optimize space, labor, and equipment usage.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

Team Management & Development
  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of warehouse supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while developing future site leaders.
  • Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and labor allocation across business units.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Inventory & Systems Management
  • Enforce process compliance to ensure inventory and order accuracy.
  • Monitor KPIs related to inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and on-time shipping.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems in conjunction with defined SOPs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce errors and shrinkage.

Financial & Performance Management
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor operational costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Track and report KPIs including productivity, accuracy, service levels, and safety metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma principles (preferred).

Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through regular audits, training, and enforcement of safety protocols.
  • Lead safety initiatives and incident investigations and ensure that reporting protocols are followed efficiently and effectively.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with internal business units to meet service expectations.
  • Address operational challenges impacting customer satisfaction.
  • Support business growth initiatives, including onboarding new product lines or clients.
