Manthey Hospitality is hiring a USCG-licensed Captain for our Pirate Water Taxi brand. This safety-sensitive leadership role is responsible for the safe operation of the vessel, oversight of the onboard crew, and delivering a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for every guest.


About Us

Pirate Water Taxi offers a unique and fun way to experience Tampa, connecting riders to top destinations along the waterfront. From daily transportation to private charters and special events, we provide memorable, guest-focused experiences on the water.


What You'll Do

  • Safely operate Pirate Water Taxi vessels in accordance with USCG regulations, company procedures, and established routes
  • Maintain command of the vessel and ensure the safety of passengers and crew at all times
  • Navigate, dock, and maneuver vessels safely in varying traffic, weather, and water conditions
  • Lead and direct Deckhands during vessel operations, docking, boarding, and emergency procedures
  • Conduct required pre-departure inspections, safety checks, and vessel documentation
  • Ensure safe and efficient passenger boarding, transportation, and disembarking
  • Conduct and participate in required safety drills and emergency procedures
  • Monitor vessel condition and promptly communicate maintenance or safety concerns
  • Ensure vessels are maintained to company standards for cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness
  • Provide professional, friendly guest interactions while maintaining appropriate command and situational awareness
  • Support fueling, potable water intake, waste removal, and other routine vessel operations as needed
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure crew members consistently follow established procedures and expectations

What You Bring

  • Valid USCG Captain's License appropriate for the vessels operated
  • Current credentials and endorsements required by the USCG for the position
  • Previous commercial passenger-vessel experience preferred
  • Strong vessel-handling, docking, navigation, and situational-awareness skills
  • Ability to confidently lead and direct an onboard crew
  • Strong judgment and ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in changing or emergency situations
  • Professional, guest-focused communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position and assist passengers during emergency situations
  • Ability to meet all applicable USCG drug and alcohol testing requirements
