Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Janitor performs routine cleaning duties in the Authority's buildings and general grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, washing walls and windows, and removing trash. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sweeps,mops, and scrubs offices, stairs and bathrooms
  • Empties waste paper baskets and trash containers
  • Ensures that there is an adequate supply of drinking water for office personnel
  • May secure office at closing time
  • Operates janitorial equipment and tools

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and write legibly
  • Ability to plan work and carry through to completion without close supervision
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships and the general public
  • High degree of initiative and dependability

Education & Experience
High school diploma, or equivalent, and two (2) years of experience in custodial work.
