Job description

Job Summary Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Crew Leader performs advanced maintenance work on the Water Distribution System. This includes performing as a lead worker in the installation, maintenance and repair of the system and related equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Reads water distribution maps and locates water lines and valves. Consults with customers to determine the installation of meters. Acts as lead worker for small crew.

Keeps record of work; performs a variety of repair and maintenance jobs in the field or trade in which trained. Keeps a list of road and sidewalk disturbances. Builds manholes and meter boxes; reports abnormal conditions to superiors.

Repairs streets and sidewalks with concrete; keeps time on rental equipment and personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must possess a valid V.I

driver's license. Ability to drive a dump truck. Must be able to operate a standard transmission vehicle.

Education & Experience High school diploma, or equivalent, including or supplemented by courses in the mechanical metal and or electrical trades, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a General Maintenance Worker or similar position performing a variety of semi-skilled building and mechanical maintenance or repair tasks.
