JOB SUMMARY
The Training Director will be responsible for overseeing the administrative and clinical functions of The Village's American Psychological Association-accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship Program. Manages day-to-day operations and long-term development of the program. Provides clinical and administrative supervision and training to psychology interns and staff. Participates in agency-wide initiatives and programs, as assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintains up-to-date documentation for the Psychology Internship Program in compliance with APA and APPIC standards.
• Drafts and records Internship Program Description with APA/APPIC system to reflect accurate internship activities
• Oversees annual intern recruitment, interviewing, and matching process.
• Coordinates and collaborates with graduate programs whose students are performing internships at The Village to ensure that the interns meet required standards of those graduate programs.
• Provides primary and/or secondary clinical and administrative supervision of pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral psychology residents, and staff, as assigned.
• Recruits psychologists to provide supervision of interns, as needed.
• Leads Psychology Department monthly meetings and ensures participation by interns and staff psychologists.
• Develops, organizes and provides training programs for interns, as needed. Ensures that adequate training opportunities exist for the interns, including those meeting APPIC requirements.
• Collaborates with program leadership throughout The Village to ensure mutually valuable intern placements in appropriate programs.
• Collaborates with Vice President in program planning, development and problem solving.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Experience and Skills
EDUCATION
• PhD or PsyD from APA Accredited Program is required
• Must be licensed as Psychologist by State of Connecticut, and must maintain that licensure throughout employment in this position
EXPERIENCE
• Must have at least 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in agencies with similar programs and populations as The Village
• Must have clinical experience serving client populations and providing therapeutic interventions similar to those provided by The Village
• Must be experienced in providing evidence-based treatment interventions, with focus on achieving measurable positive outcomes. Experience in play therapy, group therapy, and family therapy is preferred.
• Must have strong diagnostic skills
• Must have experience providing clinical consultations to other treatment providers and programs
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred.
• Cultural competency to serve diverse client population.
• Excellent interpersonal, organization and service skills and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexible and able to multi-task.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows 10 environment. Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus (SmartSearch & Electronic Health Record).
