ABOUT THIS JOB:- This position is responsible for assisting the Project Engineer (Engineer 6) or as a Project Engineer as determined by District staff needs.
- The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.
- The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Job Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:The job duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists Project Engineer (Engineer 6) with management of Construction unit(s). Assign technicians and equipment to projects.
- Serves as project manager over more complex projects. Functionally supervises staff assigned to project.
- Attend meetings associated with projects such as plan-in-hands or pre-construction conferences. May represent Project Engineer at said same meetings.
- Review preliminary plans and make recommendations for construction. May lead survey parties to perform layout work or obtain field information for project office or other sections.
- Enhances technical and management skills through participation in continuing education seminars or courses.
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

- Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $26.44/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
- Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $28.29/ hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
- Engineer 3 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.39/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
- Engineer 4 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.90/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus One year of licensed engineering experience OR Five years of professional engineering experience.
- Engineer 5 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $39.48/hourly. Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus two years of licensed engineering experience OR Six years of professional engineering experience.
