Job description

This is a summer program offered to high school students entering their Junior or Senior year of high school, who are interested in seeking a career in Manufacturing. Students must meet all the requirements listed below to qualify for an interview. 

Requirements:

  • 2.5 minimum GPA

  • Good Attendance

  • Entering Junior or Senior year in Fall 2024 (Must be 16 years of age)

  • Must have a good knowledge of basic mathematics 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

  • Some shop experience or technical classes, preferred.

Pay:

  • $15/hour

Benefits: 

  • Service credit accumulated during a full-time work experience is awarded should the student become a regular full-time employee. 

Credit:

  • If credit for school is sought, Emerson will assist with completing the necessary forms.

Hours Worked:

  • Normal work hours are 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday.  In rare instances work may be requested outside these hours or days.

  • Dates: Mid-June to Mid-August

Dress Code:

  • The dress code policy at Emerson will apply. 

  • Employment in the manufacturing plant, test lab, and other special areas require wearing safety equipment including safety shoes, glasses, and hearing protection.      Emerson will reimburse students up to $100 towards the purchase of steel toe shoes. 

Drug Screening:

  • All employees must complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screening.  This will be arranged through the Emerson Medical Department. Guardian consent is required.

Employment Documentation:

  • By Federal law, Emerson is required to verify eligibility to work in the U.S.  On the first day of employment students must present identification meeting the I-9 requirements.  Some of the accepted documents include passport, birth certificate, driver's license, social security card, etc.
