Job description

At NorthBay Health, this internship opportunity is classified as a temporary opportunity for 8-12 weeks, in the Marketing / Community Service department. It is designed to be a learning and exposure opportunity for the intern in a real-life working environment. The intern will have to opportunity to meet, interact, observe and be exposed to real-life business situations as well as contribute to a work product. Under the supervision of a mentor, the Intern will interact with staff in the department, spending time with each major area and observing what and how work is performed. The intern will also participate in activities and initiatives related to operations practice, supporting strategic initiatives as they relate to continuity of service, compliance, regulatory and professional standards, fostering collaborative interdisciplinary relationships as well as offering support for strategic service line needs. Additional duties will be assigned to the Intern based on level of understanding of practice management responsibilities. 

                                                PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

  1. Be open to observation, learning and following operation's workers and management.

  2. Be willing to share knowledge and experiences with those around you.

  3. Assists with projects and may participate in work-groups.

  4. Assists on some work assignments.

  5. Attends meetings as requested.

  6. May be asked to do a presentation to department team or leader at the end of internship, learnings, and key takeaways from experience.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation Structure

NorthBay Health uses a structured compensation framework. Staff-level positions use a step-based system (Steps 1-5) based on years of directly related experience, with Step 5 representing 20 or more years of experience in the role. Manager level and above positions are paid a fixed annual base salary and are eligible for a variable incentive compensation plan. Physician compensation is structured based on specialty and role requirements.

1. Education: Enrolled and have completed a minimum of one year, or completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration Management is preferred. 

 2.       Experience:  None required.

 3.       Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook requires excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be well organized, be able to set priorities, work independently as an effective team member.  Demonstrates effective time management skills. Must have critical thinking skills and be open to learning. Individual must be highly collaborative, be willing to assume new responsibilities as needed, accept accountability, build effective relationships, and operate effectively under pressure.  Confidence, integrity, skilled communications, and a sense of humor are also essential.  Maintains the utmost confidentiality related to items from the work setting. Appearance is professional. 

 4.       Interpersonal Skills:  Demonstrates the True North values.
