What are Intern MERN Stack Developers?

Intern MERN Stack Developers are entry-level programmers who assist in building web applications using the MERN stack, which stands for MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js. As interns, they work under the guidance of senior developers to gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying full-stack web applications. Their responsibilities typically include writing code, fixing bugs, collaborating with teams, and learning best practices in software development. This role is ideal for those looking to start a career in web development and gain practical experience with modern JavaScript technologies.

Here, you'll have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects, grow your skills, and be part of a group that's shaping the future of technology.
About The Role:
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our DevOps team to primarily design, develop and test applications for internal software systems. You will work with the customer's industry leading automation and technology Subject Matter Experts for the 5G core network to automate deployment and upgrades of 5G Core Network Functions. You will be working with state-of-the-art technology in containerized applications, Azure, CI/CD, workflow engines and software. These systems automate the process of capturing customer's mobility services design, and network design to aid in the planning, design, deployment, configuration, and management of the network functions that are part of each service definition.

  • Texas: Austin, Dallas, Plano
  • New Jersey: Middletown, Bedminster
  • Georgia: Lenox/Atlanta, Alpharetta
  • Washington: Bothell, Redmond

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js)
  • Build and maintain scalable, secure, high-performance RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Develop responsive, reusable UI components in React, emphasizing usability and maintainability.
  • Design and optimize MongoDB data models, indexes, and queries to support application performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business requirements into well-scoped technical solutions.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables through testing, code reviews, performance tuning, and security best practices.
  • Integrate and maintain third-party APIs and internal services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the stack (frontend, backend, database, CI/CD).
  • Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, standups, retrospectives) and deliver iteratively.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience building production web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js)
  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals (ES6+), including writing clean, modern, maintainable code.
  • Solid experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Node.js + Express.js.
  • Strong React skills including hooks, component architecture, and practical state management patterns.
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript (able to read/write TS in a React/Node codebase).
  • Experience integrating backend services with MongoDB (schemas, query optimization, indexing).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, including Azure DevOps (ADO) YAML pipelines for React/Node services.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills; able to quickly read and improve existing code.
  • Strong understanding of authentication/authorization (e.g., JWT, OAuth/OIDC) and secure API patterns.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (PRs, reviews, branching strategies).
  • Familiarity with cloud fundamentals-especially Azure concepts relevant to deploying and operating web services.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile, cross-functional environment with strong ownership and communication.

Nice To Have:
  • Experience with Next.js or other React frameworks.
  • Experience with one or more React state libraries (Redux, Zustand, etc.)
  • Experience with Docker and container-based workflows.
  • Deeper experience with DevOps tooling beyond pipelines (infra-as-code, monitoring/observability, release automation).
  • Experience with workflow/BPM engines (e.g., Camunda (BPMN)) or similar orchestration platforms (including Pronghorn).
  • Experience with alternative clouds (AWS/GCP) in addition to Azure.

Don't meet every requirement?
Studies show that many qualified candidates, especially women and underrepresented groups may hesitate to apply unless they meet 100% of the criteria. If you meet around 50% of the requirements and are excited about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply. We value potential, learning ability, and diverse perspectives as much as direct experience.
Interview Integrity:
During the interview process, we're evaluating your individual problem-solving skills, creativity, and approach to challenges. While AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor are part of your daily toolkit once you join B-Yond, all interviews, assessments, and take-home assignments must be completed independently.
You may not use AI tools, third-party services, coaching platforms, or content-farming services during any part of the interview process unless we explicitly permit it. We will clearly communicate when AI tools are allowed for specific assessments.
Any indication of third-party assistance or AI-generated responses will result in immediate disqualification.
