Job description

At Leprino, starting compensation for this role is Engineering Intern Rate ($23.00).
Summary Description:
The purpose of this position is to assist the engineering department with projects that the department does not have resources to complete. The role will increase the department's output while also giving the intern valuable industry experience in the engineering field.
Job Description
  • Work on a variety of projects that require mechanical design, process engineering, project management, process improvement, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • The Engineering Intern will be responsible for developing and managing projects worth upwards of $100,000. He or she will also support other engineers with larger capital projects as needed.

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):
  • At least a Junior standing in B.S. Engineering/Technical Degree program (e.g. Mechanical Engineering).
  • Must be able to work all shifts as needed and able to handle lengthy hours of work when required. Time will be split between desk work and direct work on machinery in all temperature and environmental conditions commensurate with a Dairy facility.

  • Prefer some manufacturing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities/Competencies:
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs.
  • Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices.
  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.
  • Writing Skills, Computer Skills, Presentation Skills, Meeting Facilitation Skills, Computer-aided Design and Analysis Skills, Basic Understanding of Mechanics and Fluids, Basic Financial Skills, Planning and Organization Skills.
