Job description

Direct Counsel has partnered with a nationally recognized plaintiffs' litigation firm seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing Mass Tort Litigation team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney who thrives in complex, high-impact litigation and wants to work alongside accomplished trial lawyers representing individuals in significant mass tort, product liability, multidistrict litigation (MDL), consumer protection, and other complex civil matters.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of complex litigation experience, excellent legal writing skills, and a passion for advocating on behalf of injured clients. This role offers meaningful responsibility from day one, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant cases from inception through trial.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and develop claims through detailed factual and legal analysis.

  • Review and analyze medical records, case files, and investigative materials.

  • Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and written discovery.

  • Manage all phases of written discovery, including large-scale document review.

  • Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.

  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments and litigation strategy.

  • Collaborate with co-counsel and litigation teams in multidistrict and coordinated proceedings.

  • Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit development, and case strategy.

  • Attend hearings, mediations, court appearances, and trials as needed.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active U.S. bar license in good standing.

  • 3–5 years of complex civil litigation experience.

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
