How much do intern management jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 19, 2026, the average hourly pay for intern management in the United States is $17.04, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $19.23 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Manager, you need experience in team leadership, program coordination, and a solid understanding of the organization's industry, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with project management tools, HR software, and onboarding systems is usually required. Exceptional communication, mentorship, and organizational skills help foster a positive and productive environment for interns. These skills ensure effective guidance, smooth program operations, and successful intern development within the organization.

Is 25 too old for an internship?

Intern management roles and internships generally do not have age restrictions, and candidates of any age, including 25, can pursue internships. Many internships are aimed at students or early-career professionals, but some companies value diverse experiences and backgrounds, making age less of a concern. Success depends on skills, motivation, and relevant experience rather than age alone.

What is intern management?

Intern management refers to the process of overseeing and guiding interns within an organization. This includes recruiting, onboarding, training, assigning projects, providing feedback, and evaluating performance. Effective intern management ensures that interns gain valuable experience while contributing meaningfully to the company’s objectives. Managers in this role help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world work, supporting interns’ professional growth.

Is 30 an hour good for an intern?

For an intern management role, $30 an hour is considered above average in many industries, as most internships pay less or offer stipends. However, pay can vary based on location, industry, and the intern's experience level, and some internships may prioritize experience over higher wages. It's important to consider the overall compensation package and opportunities for skill development when evaluating pay rates.

What are some common challenges faced when managing interns, and how can they be addressed effectively?

One common challenge in intern management is balancing the interns' learning experiences with the team's productivity goals. Interns may require additional guidance and feedback as they acclimate to the workplace, which can be time-consuming for managers. To address this, it's helpful to establish clear onboarding procedures, set defined expectations, and create structured check-ins. Encouraging open communication and providing regular feedback ensures interns feel supported and helps managers track progress effectively. Additionally, pairing interns with mentors within the team can foster skill development and integration.
