The Opportunity:


We are seeking a motivated and dependable Chemical Lab Intern/Part Time Lab Tech to join our team and gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional laboratory environment. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in chemistry who is eager to learn, contribute to ongoing projects, and work alongside experienced professionals in chemical research and development.


We’re looking for a self-starter who can work independently, communicate effectively, and bring a strong work ethic to a fast-paced lab setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a laboratory environment, has reliable transportation, and is excited to build real-world experience in chemistry.


This position is designed to be 3 days a week. 1 day would be at our plant located in Cleveland, TX and 2 days at our lab in The Woodlands, TX. There is an opportunity that this position will become a full time in the future, but at this time it is part time.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis by following established protocols. This may involve measuring, mixing, and handling chemicals which may include operating a forklift to transport the chemicals for sample.
  • Ensure and own all sampling for the shipment of samples to customers and the labs are collected and readied for shipment by 2 Pm every day.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments used for chemical analysis, such as spectrophotometers, chromatographs, and other specialized devices.
  • Operate the corrosion cells and report the data in a scientifically prepared paper
  • Operate the P MAC / tube blocking apparatus for testing scale inhibition
  • Collect and record data accurately during experiments and tests. Maintain detailed lab notebooks and documentation.
  • Conduct chemical analysis and tests to support research projects. This may include analyzing substances for purity, concentration, or other properties.
  • Assist in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of results. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work closely with other team members to achieve project goals. Communicate findings and observations effectively.
  • Provide support for ongoing research projects. This may involve literature reviews, preparation of reagents, and literature searches.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues or discrepancies in experimental results. Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, ethical standards, and laboratory regulations. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Record and document experimental procedures, results, and observations accurately. Maintain organized records for future reference.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of chemistry and laboratory techniques.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Present findings in meetings or reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in some chemistry discipline or working toward a chemistry related degree.
  • Experience handling hazardous substances.
  • Proficient computer skills and associated software applications to enter and evaluate data and create reports.

  • Skilled in problem solving and analysis as well as personal time management and technical capacity.
  • Exceptional communication proficiency and focus on teamwork.
  • Ability to partner with leadership as needed.
  • Mathematical aptitude and possess analytical skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Ability to drive/operate forklift (will provide training).
  • Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • Able to act in accordance with established safety guidelines and processes.
