Intern Kotlin roles are typically entry-level positions aimed at students or recent graduates gaining hands-on experience. Junior Kotlin Developers are more experienced, often requiring some prior knowledge, and are responsible for developing and maintaining Kotlin-based applications. The internship focuses on learning and skill development, while the junior role involves more independent work and contribution to projects.

What types of projects and responsibilities can an Intern Kotlin expect during their internship?

As an Intern Kotlin, you will typically be assigned to support ongoing development projects, often under the guidance of experienced engineers. Your daily tasks may include writing and testing code, fixing bugs, and contributing to app features using Kotlin, especially within Android development teams. You may also participate in code reviews, team meetings, and collaborative problem-solving sessions, gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and workflows. These opportunities help you build practical skills and prepare for a full-time developer position.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Intern Kotlin, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Kotlin, you need a foundational understanding of object-oriented programming, Kotlin syntax, and basic software development principles, typically supported by coursework or personal projects. Familiarity with Android Studio, version control systems like Git, and build tools such as Gradle is often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective communication help interns contribute and grow within team settings. These skills and qualities are vital to successfully adapt to real-world projects, collaborate with mentors, and accelerate professional development.

What does an Intern Kotlin do?

An Intern Kotlin typically assists with software development tasks using the Kotlin programming language. They may help design, code, test, and debug applications, often working under the guidance of more experienced developers. Responsibilities can include supporting mobile or server-side projects, learning best practices related to Kotlin, and contributing to team meetings and code reviews. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and help interns build foundational skills in software development.

Job description

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
