What are the big 4 internships?

The 'Big 4' internships typically refer to internships at the four largest professional services firms: Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and KPMG. These firms offer internships in areas such as consulting, audit, tax, and advisory, providing valuable experience for students pursuing careers in finance, accounting, and consulting. For fluid engineering internships, focus on companies specializing in fluid dynamics, aerospace, or energy sectors, which may also be considered top opportunities in the field.

What does a fluid engineer do?

A fluid engineer designs, analyzes, and optimizes systems involving liquids and gases, such as pipelines, pumps, and turbines. They use principles of fluid mechanics to improve efficiency, safety, and performance in industries like energy, aerospace, and manufacturing, often working with simulation tools and requiring strong problem-solving skills.

What is the difference between Intern Fluid Engineering vs Intern Mechanical Engineering?

AspectIntern Fluid EngineeringIntern Mechanical Engineering
Required CredentialsTypically pursuing a degree in fluid mechanics, mechanical engineering, or related fieldsUsually enrolled in mechanical engineering or similar programs

Industry UsageOil & gas, aerospace, HVAC, water treatmentAutomotive, manufacturing, robotics, energy
Common Search & ComparisonIntern Fluid Engineering vs Intern Mechanical Engineering

Intern Fluid Engineering and Intern Mechanical Engineering roles share similarities in educational background and work environments, often overlapping in industries like energy and manufacturing. However, Fluid Engineering focuses specifically on fluid dynamics, pipelines, and fluid systems, while Mechanical Engineering covers broader mechanical systems and design. Both internships provide valuable hands-on experience, but their specialization guides the industry and project types they typically engage with.

How much do intern engineers get paid?

Intern fluid engineering positions typically pay between $15 and $30 per hour, depending on the company, location, and level of education. Paid internships often include additional benefits such as mentorship and hands-on experience, and may require a minimum commitment of 10-40 hours per week during the summer or semester.

Is 23 an hour good for an internship?

For an intern in fluid engineering, earning $23 an hour is generally above the federal minimum wage and can be considered competitive, especially for a technical internship. Compensation varies by location, company, and level of experience, but this rate often reflects a paid internship with some technical responsibilities and skill development involved.
