Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates, which operate non-profit health centers across the U.S. PPFA also works to educate the public on and advocate for issues of sexual and reproductive health. Formed as the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood Action Fund is a separate non-profit membership organization tax-exempt under section 501(c)(4). The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and limited electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education in furtherance of the Planned Parenthood mission.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (Action Fund) seek a Revenue Accounting Intern. This job reports to the Manager of Revenue in the Accounting department of the Finance division. The Finance Department provides confidence to all stakeholders in the fiscal and fiduciary responsibility of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) and its related entities, and Planned Parenthood Global (PP Global) and its related entities (collectively the Organizations) with a commitment to customer service, sound controls, compliance monitoring, and timely, accurate, and complete reporting, analysis and decision support to further the Federation's mission.
Purpose:
As a member of the FP&A team, the Intern will provide tactical analytical support for other members of the FP&A team and be part of an ongoing initiative to build an FP&A Center of Excellence.
Engagement:
The Intern, Financial Planning & Analysis will work directly under the supervision of the Associate Director of FP&A and in collaboration with the other members of the FP&A team. The Intern will look to add value by assisting the members of the FP&A team in the completion of various projects and tasks via the use and development of their financial, technical and organizational skills. The Intern will be expected to be on site at the Planned Parenthood NYC office at least 3 days per week.
Delivery:
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting and analytical materials for PPFA and the Action Fund.
  • Learn and help manage the administration of the Adaptive Planning financial system.
  • Utilize the OfficeConnect excel plug-in to build, maintain and refresh various reports with data from Adaptive Planning.
  • Reconcile data between Adaptive Planning and the Sage Intacct accounting software.
  • Help update the headcount dashboard and analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain project management tools including trackers, calendars, checklists, status reports, and timelines.
  • Actively support the yearly budget process and quarterly forecast by leveraging Adaptive Planning and other pre-built excel templates.
  • Drafts Finance policies around spending practices and financial governance and updates Standard Operating Procedures for FP&A's scope of work
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Pursuing or completing a bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Have a mindset for continuous improvement, actively looking to leverage new technologies and build efficiencies to minimize manual and repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to problems in a highly professional, confidential and sensitive manner
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and be able to take the initiative to identify and solve potential problems.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft and Google products.
