From your PASSION to ours

Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring an Import Export Customer Service Intern based in New York City, NY.

This position reports to both the Import Customer Service Manager and the Export Customer Service Supervisor and performs a variety of duties in support of both the Import and Export Customer Service Teams, as well as projects related to new business opportunities. The intern will work 40 hours/week for the duration of the internship.


From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist Import and Export Customer Service Teams with the processing of orders and order acknowledgments as well as export documentation (export flow).
  • Monitor order pricing as part of the order process.
  • Issue appropriate export documents per order, including invoices, packing lists, and Health Certificates.
  • Coordinate with Planning/Plant to ensure quantities and delivery dates are respected.
  • Work closely with cross-functional personnel to ensure superior customer service and timely issue resolution.
  • Report issues of critical concern to the Supervisor and/or Assistant Director.
  • Act as backup to Import and Export Customer Service team members during absences.
  • Communicate and problem-solve with domestic and overseas stakeholders.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing and maintaining customer and product databases.
  • Provide documentation support on cheese imports.
  • Issue and submit logistics and mis-shipment claim requests to the QA team.
  • Prepare and submit credit note requests as needed.

Education

  • Recent college graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Business. Candidates with majors in Supply Chain, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, or a related field will also be considered.

Experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively in French is helpful but not required.

Certifications and specific knowledge

  • High proficiency in AS400, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, and governmental regulations; ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
  • Familiarity with sophisticated sales reporting systems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and analyze data.
  • Experience working effectively with teams outside formal lines of authority.
