We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer with Circuit Card design experience to join our dynamic team in Arizona. This mid-career position requires no travel, allowing you to maintain a stable work location at our client site in Arizona. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties, as well as possess the following education and experience:

Duties:
  • You will be responsible for supporting our client operations in Arizona, working on technical projects that require analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain engineering solutions that meet client specifications and industry standards.
  • Per requirements, design circuits and develop printed circuit board layouts for analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and high-speed electronic circuits.
  • Create schematic-driven PCB layouts using tools such as Altium Designer (preferred), Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Xpedition/PADS, or equivalent.
  • This role involves tasks such as detailed design, schematic capture, physical layout, component selection, simulation, and testing.
  • Work closely with other engineers to define placement, routing strategy, stack-up, controlled impedance requirements, power distribution, grounding, and design constraints.
  • Develop PCB layouts that meet requirements for signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Generate and review fabrication and assembly documentation, including Gerber/ODB++ files, drill files, IPC-2581, BOM support files, assembly drawings, and fabrication notes.
  • Coordinate with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers to resolve DFM, DFA, DFT, and production issues.
  • Perform layout reviews and ensure designs comply with applicable standards such as IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001.
  • Support prototype builds, conduct tests, collect data, document results, troubleshooting, and design updates.
  • Maintain PCB libraries, component footprints, symbols, 3D models, and design rule templates.
  • You will also be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, implementing corrective actions, and providing regular progress reports to project managers and stakeholders.
  • The ability to interpret technical specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements is essential for success in this position.
  • You will have opportunities to mentor junior team members, contribute to knowledge sharing, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent hands-on PCB layout experience may also be considered.

Required Experience:
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Fundamental experience with electronic circuits, analog and digital, signal integrity factors, part derating, parts stress considerations.
  • Experience and proficiency with at least one major PCB design tool such as Altium Designer (Preferred), Cadence Allegro, Mentor Xpedition, or PADS.
  • Experience with or familiarity with IPC-6012, class 2 and class 3, IPC-6013, MIL-PRF-31032, IPC-7351, IPC-2152, IPC-2220 series, IPC-2221, IPC-2222 and IPC-4761, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001.
  • Experience with multilayer PCB layout, component placement, routing, via structures, stack-up planning, and copper balancing.
  • Knowledge of high-speed routing practices, including differential pairs, length matching, impedance control, return paths, and crosstalk reduction.
  • Experience with serial communications buses such as MIL-STD-1553, I2C, SPI, RS-422, RS-232
  • Experience creating complete PCB release packages for fabrication and assembly.
  • Experience with testing methodologies and quality control processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with a team and a client-facing environment
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical reports

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with rigid, flex, and rigid-flex PCB technologies.
  • Knowledge of SI/PI analysis tools, 3D mechanical integration, ECAD/MCAD collaboration, and thermal analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional engineering team environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to read and interpret requirements, technical drawings and specifications
