Intermediate Analyst information

Can I be an intermediate analyst with no experience?

Intermediate analyst roles typically require some prior experience or related skills such as data analysis, problem-solving, and familiarity with tools like Excel or SQL. Entry-level positions may be more suitable for those with little to no experience, but advancing to an intermediate level usually involves gaining practical experience through internships, training, or related work.

An intermediate analyst is a professional who analyzes data, processes information, and supports decision-making within an organization, typically with some experience beyond entry-level. They often use tools like Excel, SQL, or data visualization software and may be responsible for preparing reports, identifying trends, and assisting senior analysts or managers. This role usually requires a foundational understanding of the industry and analytical skills, with opportunities for further specialization or advancement.

Job description

Job Description:

  • Refocused the role from an analyst developer (intermediate to senior) to senior Guidewire developer, upgrade. Impact analysis is now handled by the developer, rather than a separate role.
  • Optimum is preparing to upgrade its on-premise Guidewire InsuranceSuite environment from version 10.2.2 to 10.2.5 (or higher). (recent at the start of the project), exclusively on PolicyCenter.
  • The mandate is for a senior Guidewire developer who has already performed a version upgrade, whether it be a minor version upgrade or a migration to Guidewire Cloud: this developer is responsible for identifying the impacts, incompatibilities, and regression points themselves, without a separate analyst profile adding value to a purely technical migration.
  • The upgrade does not deliver new features; the challenge is technical and critical, hence the requirement for concrete version upgrade experience.
  • A developer without this experience is only a viable option if paired part-time with a senior developer who has it.
  • This role is separate from the DBCC correction, which is the subject of a second mandate and cannot be carried out simultaneously: the DBCCs are corrected first, then the PolicyCenter version upgrade is performed.
  • This should not be confused with a functional analyst, a generic Guidewire profile, or an architect detached from the code.

Requirements

Required:

  • On-premise Guidewire InsuranceSuite development on PolicyCenter (Gosu, configuration)
  • Professional experience with a Guidewire upgrade: minor version upgrade or migration to Guidewire Cloud, using the Upgrade Tool
  • Identification of impacts, incompatibilities, and regressions from code review
  • Advanced mastery of the PolicyCenter data model

Desired:

  • Senior experience, autonomous in identifying impacts and preparing the upgrade
  • Ability to produce technical documentation for upgrade preparation

Asset:

  • Knowledge of the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance sector
