Job description

Position Title: Interior Designer I
Location: Capitol Heights, MD
Department: Client Services - Design
The difference you'll make:
We're looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Interior Designer to join our design team at dancker. In this foundational role, you'll support accurate drafting, product research, finish coordination, and project documentation while building proficiency in AutoCAD, systems furniture, dancker processes, and client-centered design delivery. CET knowledge is a plus, and an eagerness to build proficiency in the platform is valued. If you're an emerging interior design professional who is eager to contribute to meaningful spaces and help deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions for our clients, we'd love to hear from you.
How you'll make an impact:
  • Assist with detailed CET drawings, including furniture plans, revisions, typicals, and basic 3D views under guidance from senior team members
  • Support the preparation and modification of installation drawings and related project documentation
  • Coordinate with Team Leads and the Design Manager by providing timely updates on assigned tasks and deliverables
  • Partner with designers, Account Executives, and Sales leadership to understand project goals and client requirements
  • Assist with finish selections, product research, sample ordering, and specification documentation
  • Maintain internal reporting tools and project records with accurate information
  • Review drawings and field information to help identify discrepancies between plans, specifications, and site conditions
  • Develop knowledge of manufacturer products, systems furniture, workplace trends, and dancker standards
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination discussions as appropriate

What you'll bring to this role:
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree from a CIDA-accredited design program or equivalent relevant experience
  • 0-2 years of industry, internship, or related design/project support experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and with willingness to build advanced proficiency with CET & AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with basic installation drawings, furniture plans, and supporting documentation
  • Foundational understanding of systems furniture, product specifications, finishes, and workplace design concepts
  • Organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and collaborative
  • Works within defined processes and procedures with close to moderate guidance from senior designers or Team Leads
