Group: Architecture + Interiors

Position: Senior Interior Designer

Location: Indianapolis, IN (on site)

The Senior Interior Designer leads interior design efforts from concept through design development and supports construction documentation and administration. This role sets design quality standards, mentors teammates, and collaborates closely with project managers, architects, and consultants to deliver cohesive, buildable solutions aligned with client goals. The ideal candidate brings strong creative leadership, advanced technical knowledge, and confidence in client-facing presentations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design strategy, concept development, and iterative studies; align solutions with program, budget, and schedule
  • Direct production of interior documentation and details; ensure consistency with firm standards and QA/QC processes
  • Oversee finishes, FF&E, and product selections; manage vendor relationships and procurement strategies
  • Facilitate workshops, user interviews, and design charrettes; synthesize feedback into clear design direction
  • Present design solutions to clients and stakeholders; manage expectations and decisions
  • Conduct and document code/accessibility research for interiors; guide compliance and risk mitigation
  • Coordinate with consultants for lighting, acoustics, AV/technology, and MEP integration
  • Support early cost modeling, value engineering, and life-cycle considerations without compromising design intent
  • Mentor junior designers; provide redlines, training, and performance feedback
  • Contribute to pursuits, case studies, and thought leadership around interiors practice
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited program required; Master's preferred
  • 10 or more years of professional experience with portfolio demonstrating complex projects
  • NCIDQ certification required or ability to obtain within first year of employment
  • LEED/WELL credential a plus; IIDA membership encouraged
  • Expert proficiency in Revit; strong skills in SketchUp/Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with visualization tools and diagrammatic storytelling
  • Advanced knowledge of interior codes, detailing, and performance specifications; ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client presentation skills.
