Store Planning Designer
Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Level: Salaried
Division / Department: Marketing amp; Ecommerce / Store Design
Reports to: Regional Store Design Supervisor
Travel: Occasional dealer store visits and to Do it Best Group Markets
About the Role:
This position develops complete and detailed design drawings of retail stores utilizing AutoCAD Architecture, including Floor Plans, Elevation Plans, Key Plans, Site Plans, and SketchUp Renderings. Additionally, this position will create as-built drawings of floor plans and elevation plans using Matterport for store design projects. Traveling includes occasional dealer store visits and to Do it Best Corp. Markets.
Responsibilities include:
  • Create detailed floor plans, key plans, elevation plans, and site plans with precision
  • Create renderings and 3D models of stores
  • Generate as-built floor and elevation drawings using Matterport technology
  • Interpret and execute redlines, ensuring plan accuracy and consistency
  • Develop sign proofs based on provided specifications and branding guidelines
  • Partner with Regional Store Designers and Design Coordinator to drive project implementation and execution
  • Ensure all drawings meet deadlines, specifications, and approval standards
  • Maintain project documentation and workflow accuracy on Monday.com
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, standards, and design quality

Education and Experience:
Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree in interior design or related field, OR associate's degree in architectural drafting with 2-5 years’ work experience
  • Comprehensive command of AutoCAD Architecture required
  • Trimble SketchUp
  • Adobe Software: Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • Microsoft Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired
  • Related job experience in architectural drafting and Store Design
  • A strong knowledge in basic construction details

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with team members and dealer partners
  • Proven ability to identify issues and implement solutions with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness and ability to learn and expand skills in 3D drafting and rendering technologies
