Interim facilities managers are professionals hired on a temporary basis to oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of an organization's buildings and facilities. They step in during periods of transition, such as when a permanent manager leaves or during organizational changes, ensuring that essential functions like building maintenance, vendor management, and compliance with safety regulations continue smoothly. Their role often includes assessing current processes, implementing improvements, and preparing the facility for the arrival of a permanent manager.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an interim facilities manager?

Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and knowledge of health and safety regulations are typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial for effectively managing teams and responding to facility issues.
