The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Technical Specialist Manager to deliver asset management projects for our natural gas utility clients. Infrastructure Advisory focuses on the lifecycle management of assets, and you will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are aligned with Black & Veatch's Purpose, Building a World of Difference.

We are looking for a professional who can combine deep natural gas utility industry experience with the ability to connect regulatory developments, engineering realities, asset performance considerations, and utility business objectives. They will demonstrate the ability to anticipate industry change, understand its impact on physical infrastructure and asset management practices, and help clients make informed investment decisions that support safety, compliance, reliability, and affordability.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver innovative solutions to address our natural gas utility clients' most pressing issues, including aging infrastructure, regulatory requirements, making informed investment decisions, and improving data management.

The Team

Black & Veatch's Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset lifecycle, including Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Delivery Team supporting Solutions.

You will be working primarily with the Asset Management and Operations & Maintenance Solution Portfolio to deliver a wide range of projects, including asset management plans, investment plans, regulatory filings and rate case strategies, asset performance and condition assessment, and strategic planning. You will also support our gas utility Markets Team with business development and thought leadership activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise natural gas distribution and transmission clients on regulatory, asset management, and infrastructure investment challenges.
  • Interpret and translate PHMSA requirements, state commission regulations, and emerging industry guidance into actionable business and asset management strategies.
  • Stay current on evolving regulations, industry trends, and leading practices through engagement with organizations such as PHMSA, AGA, INGAA, APGA, NARUC, and state utility commissions.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory and industry changes on asset management programs, capital planning, integrity management, EAM platforms, and utility operations.
  • Support development of risk-based investment prioritization frameworks and long-term infrastructure investment strategies.
  • Advise clients on asset health, performance, lifecycle management, and replacement planning for gas transmission and distribution assets.
  • Support regulatory filings, rate case strategies, and capital investment justification efforts through asset management and risk-based analyses.
  • Facilitate collaboration among engineering, operations, asset management, regulatory, and executive stakeholders to align infrastructure investment decisions.
  • Contribute to business development, thought leadership, and client relationship management within the natural gas utility sector
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years experience in a business/consulting environment.
