Job description

Description

As a BIM Project Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the design, coordination, and execution of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes specifically for structural detailing, and multidisciplinary coordination. This role plays a critical part in translating engineering concepts into accurate, constructible models and drawings using Revit and related BIM tools.

You will work closely with engineers and designers to develop detailed Revit models, ensuring that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are accurately represented and well-coordinated within the project. Your role will contribute to enhancing project efficiency, collaboration, and overall quality.
As part of EUA, a fully integrated architecture and engineering firm, BIM coordination is crucial in facilitating seamless collaboration across disciplines. Our holistic approach to design requires accurate and efficient coordination between HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and architectural systems, ensuring that all elements of a project are aligned from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and revise structural BIM models in Autodesk Revit for a variety of project types. Ensure that all models comply with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Produce structural drawings, details, and schedules in support of design and construction documentation
  • Assist structural engineers with model setup, modeling standards, and drawing production
  • Coordinate structural models with architectural, MEP, and other discipline models to identify and resolve clashes
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and respond to coordination issues
  • Implement and adhere to company BIM standards, templates, and workflows
  • Assist with model quality control to ensure accuracy, consistency, and constructability
  • Support project teams during design development, permitting, and construction phases as needed
  • Standards and Quality Control: Ensure adherence to BIM execution plans (BEP), managing project-specific BIM standards for structural systems. Perform regular quality control checks on models to maintain accuracy and alignment with project goals.
  • Knowledge of EUA Standards: Ensure all structural models adhere to EUA's internal standards and best practices, maintaining consistency, sustainability, and accuracy across all projects. Your work will reflect EUA's commitment to high-quality, integrated design and engineering excellence.
  • Training and Support: Provide technical support to engineers and designers on Revit and BIM processes related to structural systems. Conduct training sessions on best practices and advanced features in Revit.
  • Data Management: Manage and organize all structural data within the BIM model, ensuring accurate data exchange between different teams and disciplines. Assist in integrating BIM models with project management and analysis software.

Key Outcomes

  • Accurate and Coordinated Models: Ensure that structural Revit models are fully coordinated with other building systems, free from significant clashes, and meet project requirements.
  • Effective Coordination and Clash Resolution: Lead coordination and clash detection meetings, ensuring that all design conflicts are identified early and resolved efficiently. Streamline interdisciplinary collaboration to minimize delays and enhance project delivery.
  • Optimized BIM Processes: Continuously refine and optimize EUA's BIM processes for structural systems, contributing to improved project timelines and quality outcomes.
  • Data Integrity and Accessibility: Maintain high standards for data integrity throughout the project, ensuring accurate structural information is accessible to all stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Two- or four-year degree or certificate in Drafting, BIM, Civil/Structural Technology, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a structural (or architectural) drafting or BIM role
  • Experience working in a consulting structural engineering (or architectural) environment
  • Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, or similar coordination tools
  • Knowledge of BIM execution plans, model coordination workflows, and LOD requirements
  • Exposure to construction documents for commercial and/or industrial projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor others on BIM/VDC processes related to structural.
  • Has a proactive approach to projects and problem solving and can self-direct project work, tasks, and process improvements.
  • Assists in on-site observation and documentation.
  • Pay range for this position is $50,000 to $80,000 depending on experience
