Position Description
The Data Center HVAC Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and delivery of HVAC service and installation projects within mission-critical data center environments. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer and contractual requirements. The PM acts as the primary customer contact, coordinating technicians, subcontractors, procurement, and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a portfolio of HVAC data center projects, ensuring seamless execution from sales handover through commissioning and warranty
  • Lead day-to-day execution, providing direction to site teams, subcontractors, and supporting functions
  • Lead end-to-end management of data center HVAC projects, including retrofits, repairs, replacements, and new equipment deployments.
  • Develop project schedules, work plans, and resource assignments for field technicians.
  • Maintain accurate project schedules, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring proactive follow-up on critical path activities
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings and ensure alignment on scope, deliverables, and expectations.
  • Monitor daily/weekly progress and proactively adjust plans to maintain timelines.
  • Serve as a liaison between office and field, coordinating staffing and movement of field personnel
  • Monitor project costs and job cost report, analyzing and forecasting total cost projection reports
  • Review/approve project team on-site setup, including facilities layout, selection of forming systems and equipment
  • Assist project staff in development of project schedule and monitor schedule performance, looking for ways to improve/expedite
  • Implement applicable safety, EEO and Affirmative Action programs
  • Lead the project's quality process and close-out processes
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, subcontractors and owners to represent Modine's core values

Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, including data center operators, general contractors (GCs), and commissioning agents
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders through structured, proactive communication
  • Provide regular project updates-including schedule, risks, and financials-to internal and external stakeholders
  • Escalate issues in a timely and structured manner, driving resolution while maintaining customer confidence

Technical & Problem Solving
  • Build a solid technical understanding of data center HVAC systems, including chillers, central cooling plants, and controls integration
  • Assist with and coordinate commissioning efforts such as Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated System Testing (IST)
  • Assess technical issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve design, installation, and performance-related challenges
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to verify compliance with project requirements
