JOB SUMMARY

An experienced technical manager to lead our Development and Integration engineering team through an ambitious multi-year SAP transformation. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with platform governance—partnering with IT and business stakeholders to prioritize work, manage technical debt, and introduce modern SAP and integration capabilities that improve productivity and reliability. The position is responsible for driving S/4HANA development, BTP Integration Suite buildout, while also providing people leadership and capability governance for Data Engineering (SAP Datasphere) and Testing through domain leads.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ABAP Development Leadership & Delivery

  • Own ABAP development standards, code review governance, and technical design approval to ensure secure, maintainable solutions.

  • Lead S/4HANA and BTP ABAP delivery (RAP/CAP) and Fiori extension work aligned to roadmap priorities.

  • Build application development practices that improve delivery quality, reuse, and Team Member productivity.

Integration Engineering (PI/PO to BTP) & API Enablement

  • Own PI/PO to SAP BTP Integration Suite migration planning, delivery governance, and decommission sequencing.

  • Provide architectural direction for integration patterns and API-based connectivity across a hybrid ECC/S/4 landscape.

  • Support change and release processes for integrations (deployment standards, runbooks, and operational handoffs).

Portfolio Governance & Technical Debt Remediation

  • Partner with IT leadership and business stakeholders on prioritization, ensuring capacity is aligned to transformation milestones and operational needs.

  • Work with stakeholders to measure and prioritize technical debt remediation (custom ABAP reduction, integration simplification, Data modernization).

  • Explore emerging SAP/BTP capabilities and industry trends; recommend solutions that improve stability, performance, and business value.

Data Engineering (SAP Datasphere) Capability Management

  • Provide people leadership and delivery oversight to Data Engineering Lead, including intake, prioritization, capacity planning, and execution governance.

  • Establish and govern SAP Datasphere platform practices and standards (modeling patterns, naming conventions, performance guidance, transport/release approach, and documentation).

  • Ensure the team delivers reliable, secure, and auditable data products and pipelines from SAP and non-SAP sources, partner with security and data governance stakeholders on access, retention, and compliance expectations.

  • Define and monitor operational and quality metrics for data products (freshness, data quality, lineage completeness, incident trends) and drive continuous improvement through the team.

Testing & Quality Engineering Capability Management

  • Lead the Testing capability across SAP delivery through the Testing Lead, including test strategy, planning standards, defect triage governance, and release readiness reporting.

  • Define and govern test standards and tooling (regression approach, test data management, automation strategy) to improve coverage, consistency, and cycle time.

  • Ensure stakeholder alignment and readiness for UAT and cutover validation (environment readiness, entry/exit criteria, and sign-off coordination).

  • Own quality metrics and continuous improvement (defect leakage, escaped defects, automation rate, post-release stability) and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into delivery practices.

People Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Lead and develop domain leads across ABAP Development, Integration Platform, Data Engineering, and Testing; manage performance, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Manage third-party provider performance for development and integration services; hold partners accountable for quality and delivery outcomes.

  • Participate in vendor/contract decision support by providing in put on scope, standards, and delivery expectations.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of working experience

  • 10 + years of SAP technical experience

  • Hands-on experience with  ABAP development and SAP integration

  • Minimum 2 full-cycle S/4HANA implementation (brownfield or greenfield) in a technical leadership capacity.

  • 5 + years of  people management experience leading multi-discipline SAP technical teams.

  • Experience governing an AMS or SI partner relationship, including quality standards and SLA accountability.

  • Proven ability to manage delivery in a hybrid landscape where legacy and modern platforms coexist.

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across IT leadership and business partners.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Proven ability to manage delivery in a hybrid landscape where legacy and modern platforms coexist.

  • Active BTP certifications or formal SAP training in Integration Suite, CAP, or Datasphere preferred.

  • Exposure to SAP GRC or security architecture considerations in S/4 implementations preferred.

  • CPB, Food & Beverage, or Manufacturing industry SAP experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid working knowledge of SAP BTP (e.g., Integration Suite, Build/CAP framework, and/or Datasphere)

  • Experience with IBP technical architecture of APO-to-IBP migration preferred

The salary range for this role is is  $160,000 - $185,000 (Annually).  Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Jack Link’s Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards.
