What We Do


Nexstar is a member-owned network of residential service contractors. Our goal is to help our members grow their businesses by providing classroom training, mentoring, online tools, and strategic partnerships.


The Big Task


The business coach will work with Nexstar members through all phases of implementation of our proprietary best practices programs. Coaching is done over the telephone, virtual, and at the member's business.


Responsibilities include orientation, training, mentoring, supporting, monitoring, financial analysis, and measuring the progress of members. A Business Coach will utilize Nexstar's systems and other information to guide our members in the right direction. Our motto is "Success through Education and Sharing" and this role is key to bringing this to life.


Business Coaches work primarily with owners and operators in their assigned member businesses to drive strategic growth and operational excellence. In addition to guiding leadership at the top level, each Business Coach partners with a range of specialty coaches-to align efforts across every area of the business. Together, this integrated coaching team helps members execute strategies, develop their people, and achieve their goals.


Key Tasks:

  • Engage with our members through one-to-one consulting to win and retain members in this highly visible role.
  • Act as a liaison between Nexstar and its members.
  • Exercises sound business practices and excellent customer services skills. Practice what we teach.
  • Able to recognize, analyze, assess, diagnose, and prescribe business solutions for needs and management skill of our members.
  • Develop standards and systems to answer recurring questions and problem areas.
  • Document performance standards.
  • Facilitate Peer Group Meetings.
  • Facilitate Business Planning Workshops and post-workshop financial review/KPI meetings with attending members.
  • Participate in other Nexstar meetings and events (e.g., Super Meetings, Member Regional Meetings, Recruiting Events, Training Schools, etc.).
  • Participate in proactive calls, orientation calls and other projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry market trends, opportunities, competitive threats, and regulatory environments to share with staff and members.
  • Flexibility in working hours to meet members' schedules as needed.


Performance Metrics:

  • Annual member retention goals
  • Annual member engagement goals
  • Annual onsite consulting and workshop goals
  • Other performance metrics may be established or adjusted periodically based on business needs and will be communicated accordingly


Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified candidates will have 5-7 years' experience in business or operations management, preferably in a field service environment with 50 or more employees and proven to be successful in leadership.
  • Knowledge of residential service and repair industry (i.e., Plumbing, HVAC or Electrical) is strongly preferred.
  • Though not required, candidates that have owned or run (General Manager) a company generating $10m in sales or more with a minimum of 10% net profit, are highly desirable.
  • Qualified Candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills and strong financial management background. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).


Education Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates will ideally have a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or other related areas.


Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 35%


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to conduct full-day presentations, speaking and on-foot interacting with a room of participants.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $124,500-$159,500 annually, plus performance-based commissions. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
