Powering Customer Success Through Application Engineering Leadership!

MEPPIs Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Application Engineering Section Manager to lead the Application Engineering team in the execution of sales strategies, proposal development, customer support, and project transitions. In this leadership role, you will oversee technical sales support activities, drive operational excellence, and ensure customer requirements are translated into successful business outcomes while supporting divisional growth objectives.


What Youll Do

Lead Application Engineering Operations: Direct the Application Engineering Section to execute CPSD sales strategies and achieve divisional sales plan objectives.

Develop & Lead Teams: Manage Application Engineering personnel in accordance with Company policies and procedures; provide training, cross-training, coaching, and continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input on compensation decisions.

Ensure Proposal & Documentation Accuracy: Oversee the review and verification of customer-facing and inside sales documentation to ensure technical accuracy, consistency with business strategies, compliance with company procedures, and adherence to Limits of Authority requirements.

Drive Performance Metrics: Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators related to proposals, shop submittals, project deliverables, projected versus actual costs, and margin performance.

Manage Customer Order Execution: Oversee customer orders from intake through delivery, ensuring smooth transitions between CPSD departments and effective coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

Support Sales Analysis & Forecasting: Maintain internal sales reports, metrics, and CRM data in collaboration with the National Sales Manager to support sales forecasting and strategic decision-making.

Collaborate with Supply Chain: Work closely with Supply Chain to support inventory planning, product forecasting, finished goods pricing, peripheral equipment pricing, and make-versus-buy strategies.

Support Service Operations: Lead the Application Engineering team in developing service project estimates and coordinating seamless transitions of projects to the Service organization prior to system startup.

Develop & Maintain Procedures: Create and manage Level III Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for the Application Engineering Section to ensure consistency and operational effectiveness.

Provide Technical Leadership: Support other CPSD departments with technical expertise related to field service communications, business meetings, customer presentations, trade shows, vendor events, and contract negotiations.

Promote Division Excellence: Further the goals and professional image of CPSD through effective collaboration with employees, customers, suppliers, and business partners.


What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in technical sales
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Technical & Commercial Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of UPS systems and/or other power quality-related products
  • Advanced knowledge of technical sales methodologies and commercial negotiations
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and engineering documentation

Leadership Skills

  • Proven ability to develop, lead, and motivate high-performing teams
