What are Insurtech Advisors?

Insurtech Advisors are professionals who provide guidance and expertise to companies and individuals navigating the intersection of insurance and technology. They help businesses evaluate, implement, and optimize technological solutions that streamline insurance processes such as underwriting, claims, and customer experience. Their role often involves staying updated on the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and digital innovations to ensure clients remain competitive and compliant. Insurtech Advisors can work within consulting firms, insurance companies, or as independent consultants, offering strategic advice tailored to the unique needs of each client.

How do Insurtech Advisors typically collaborate with insurance carriers and technology vendors to implement new solutions?

Insurtech Advisors often serve as liaisons between insurance carriers and technology vendors, working closely with both parties to assess business needs, evaluate emerging technologies, and oversee the integration of digital solutions. This collaboration often involves regular meetings, joint project planning, and facilitating communication to ensure alignment on goals and timelines. Advisors play a critical role in translating business requirements into technical specifications and troubleshooting challenges that may arise during implementation. Their ability to foster strong relationships and manage stakeholder expectations is essential for the success of insurtech initiatives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Insurtech Advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Insurtech Advisor, you need a strong background in insurance, technology integration, and business strategy, often supported by relevant degrees or industry certifications. Familiarity with insurance software platforms, data analytics tools, and regulatory compliance systems is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and client management skills help you stand out by building trust and delivering tailored solutions. These skills are crucial for effectively guiding insurance companies through digital transformation and maintaining a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving industry.

Job description

Join our team and accelerate your career.
Life insurance is a complex and consequential purchase that impacts hundreds of millions of Americans. With our powerful and integrated digital tools, expert support, and leading insurance products, we empower advisors to better serve their clients, grow their businesses, and bring the future of the industry to life.
We are a high-growth, AI-driven brokerage backed by $35M from top-tier investors, including Thrive Capital (major investors in OpenAI, SpaceX, Stripe, Instagram, Spotify, and Slack), New York Life, and Northwestern Mutual.
Join a passionate team of product-minded technologists and insurance professionals who are at the leading edge of a massive industry. Make a tangible difference in people's lives and help deliver our mission to help everyone protect what matters most through advanced technology and tailored advice.
This is a senior individual contributor role with leadership scope. Depending on the person, the role can grow into a design leader over time or work in support of design leadership as we scale the team.
What You'll Do
  • Build and scale AI-powered products that are transforming how insurance advisors work - from intelligent case management to automated underwriting workflows
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code that runs smoothly in production
  • Contribute to and lead complex projects, and make business vs technology decisions during all phases of the project lifecycle
  • Weigh trade-offs and focus on value delivery. A fast-paced startup demands making trade-offs that balance the near term and long term value add of solutions.
  • Help create and uphold our engineering standards and bring consistency to the codebases and processes you build and encounter

Your Impact
  • Shape the best practices, product, and more broadly the culture of the company from an early stage. Your DNA will be deep into what and how we build
  • Help define and build the AI platform that is setting the standard for how technology transforms insurance distribution
  • Create intelligent, agent-driven solutions that help insurance advisors across the full stack of advice and distribution
  • Set the standard for quality and design in an industry that is ripe for innovation

About You
  • You have 5+ years of experience as a builder shipping to production
  • You're product-minded and deeply curious and empathetic about your users
  • You've shipped AI agents and automations to production and understand what it takes to operate them reliably at scale, including observability, evaluation, and monitoring
  • You thrive in a dynamic and fast-growing environment with a high degree of ambiguity
  • You're genuinely excited about tackling hard technical and product problems

Bonus Points
  • You've worked as (and loved being) a founding or early engineer
  • You have experience at an insurtech, healthtech or broader fintech company
  • You've helped build a successful, fast-growing, product-focused startup
  • You're excited to share your side projects with us and what you learned from them

$150,000 - $200,000 a year
