The Opportunity

Our growing team is looking for an AVP to strengthen Aviva Canada's operational resilience, business continuity, and crisis management and to drive physical security and health and safety strategies.

What you'll do:

In this role you will responsible for the following key areas:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategic vision for operational resilience, business continuity, and crisis management.

  • Influence and align with senior leadership on pivotal initiatives and business goals.

Operational Resilience & Business Continuity:

  • Strengthen operational resilience and business continuity awareness across Aviva Canada. Make sure all plans are in place and effective across the enterprise e.g. Claims, Personal Insurance, Technology.

  • Lead and ensure compliance to OSFI E-21 guidelines.

  • Support the assessment of third and fourth party operational resilience through the procurement and third party management lifecycle.

Crisis Management:

  • Manage the crisis framework and governance structure.

  • Act as incident manager during a crisis situation and take decisions on escalation.

Health & Safety:

  • Build and promote a culture of health and safety which supports our employees, customers and partners.

  • Own the framework and provide enterprise advisory services to strengthen policies and procedures

Corporate Security:

  • Oversee the corporate security strategy in partnership with Group.

  • Own the framework and provide enterprise advisory services to strengthen policies and procedures

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations and policies.

  • Review and maintain controls to manage operational and regulatory risks effectively.

  • Chair and support relevant governance committees.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage and collaborate with senior leaders and external partners to understand and ensure strategies and design delivery owned strategies are in line with the business ambitions.

Performance Metrics:

  • Define and track key performance indicators across Operational Resilience, Corporate security and Health and Safety to measure success.

  • Report on performance and outcomes to senior leadership.

Risk Management:

  • Assessing inherent risks and the design & operational efficiency of controls aligned with Operational Resilience, Health & Safety and Corporate Security.

  • Report and investigate loss events and implement appropriate remediation to prevent recurrence.

What you'll bring:
  • MBA/Business qualification preferred.

  • 10+ years of Operational Resiliency experience

  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in a senior management role

  • Experience in P&C Insurance or Financial Services is an asset.

  • Track record of delivery in a sophisticated operational environment.

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and leadership skills.

  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.

  • Hardworking and innovative with an ability to inspire colleagues, achieve consensus from partners and delight the customer

What you'll get:
  • The salary band for this position ranges from $170,000 to $200,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
