Sebesta Poelma, LLLP is seeking a skilled Commercial Litigation Associate with 3–7 years of experience to join our Houston firm. This role focuses on commercial/business litigation, with opportunities to take meaningful responsibility across all phases of a case.
Responsibilities
- Manage matters from case inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
- Research, analyze, and draft high‐quality briefs, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and motions to compel in state and federal courts
- Draft and file pleadings and discovery responses
- Prepare discovery materials, legal memoranda, and supporting research
- Represent clients in hearings and take fact‐witness depositions
- Collaborate closely with partners and team members to develop case strategy and deliver excellent client service
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active Texas law license in good standing, with compliance with all CLE requirements
- 3–7 years of litigation experience, ideally with commercial/business matters
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a demanding caseload
- A proactive, team‐oriented mindset and commitment to client service
