About The Role:
The Investment Strategy & Consulting (IS&C) team within Baird Private Wealth Management (PWM) plays a key role in ensuring that Baird Financial Advisors have the tools and capabilities across our investment, liquidity, retirement plans, and insurance platforms necessary for delivering great outcomes for our clients. Strategically at Baird, we believe that delivering a great Wealth Management Experience for clients is built upon three pillars: Investment Consulting, Wealth Planning, and Relationship Management.
The Insurance Solutions Consultant will help execute on the risk-managed growth strategy of the insurance offerings used by clients of Baird as well as the broader insured solutions ecosystem within Private Wealth Management. The candidate that fills this role will work alongside the Insurance Solutions Manager and will also be responsible for partnering across the Wealth Solutions Group (WSG), other teams within PWM, and Corporate Resource Groups (CRGs) that support the organic and acquisitive growth strategies of the business, as effective collaboration is key to driving progress across IS&C's strategic priorities:
  • Clients - Deliver solutions aligned with Baird's Wealth Management Experience.
  • Branch Network - Increase scale and productivity while ensuring branch associates have adopted relevant and widely-utilized solutions in their practices.
  • Baird PWM - Collaborate to drive sustainable PWM growth while helping to manage firm risk.

By forging strong relationships with Baird Financial Advisors ("FAs"), the Insurance Solutions Consultant will be expected to be a true partner in the delivery of great client outcomes. In addition to partnering with internal teams the Insurance Solutions Consultant will work with Financial Advisors and Client Specialists delivering expert knowledge on advice specific to insurance products, solutions and strategies, allowing the implementation of informed decision making.
The Impact You'll Make:
  • Work with Baird FAs and Client Specialists to articulate information on insurance products including but not limited to; term, whole life, universal life, index universal life, variable universal life, long-term care and disability income insurance
  • Troubleshooting advisor inquiries on Insurance Solutions specific to technology platform, insurance strategy options, as well as sharing best practices
  • Consult with Financial Advisors and Client Specialists to evaluate clients' needs while navigating the appropriate insurance solutions including elements of financial planning, business insurance and non-qualified insurance concepts
  • Serve as a liaison between internal and external partners to ensure alignment with procedures, policies including but not limited to commissions, compliance, supervision and operations
  • Support Insurance Solutions Manager and Baird's Legal team in reviewing and negotiating selling agreements with insurance carriers and brokerage general agencies to ensure desired outcomes of business relationships
  • Partner internally with Legal/Compliance, Operations, Investment Solutions, Marketing & Communications, and other areas necessary to ensure the consistent application of broader strategic initiatives
  • Develop and deliver educational content that is relevant to insurance solutions
  • Proactively develop ideas and initiatives to sustainably grow the insurance solutions platform
  • Enhance internal processes to make the insurance solutions processes efficient and scalable
  • Effectively partner on broader initiatives to grow, support and evolve the insurance solutions platform
  • Occasional travel is required for advisor/branch education and supporting, and industry symposium education events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Insurance Solutions Manager

What You'll Bring to Baird:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of relevant professional experience in the insurance industry preferred Life & health licensed or the ability to obtain within 12 months of start date
  • SIE, Series 6 or 7 & 66 licenses preferred
  • Sophisticated understanding of various insurance products, services and strategies, the insurance industry as well as current tax laws
  • Exceptional client service skills including both written and verbal The candidate will have the opportunity to work with all levels of associates and management, including technical topics to Financial Advisors individually and in a group setting
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • History of delivering consistent, high-quality performance
  • Strong organizational skills - ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to act as a team player, assisting others in the department, when necessary, is mandatory
  • Possesses a high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and research skills
