Job description

Overview

The Insurance Service Agent is responsible for driving customer retention, policy renewal success, and account growth through proactive customer engagement and insurance coverage reviews. This role serves as a trusted advisor to policyholders by identifying coverage gaps, recommending appropriate insurance solutions, and strengthening client relationships to improve retention and account rounding opportunities. The position offers a base pay of $21.96 per hour, plus commission.ย 

The ideal candidate holds an active Property & Casualty (P&C) license and possesses strong customer service, sales, and relationship-building skills. Success in this role requires the ability to analyze customer insurance needs, retain at-risk business, identify cross-sell opportunities, and deliver exceptional service throughout the customer lifecycle.ย 


Responsibilities
  • Proactively contact policyholders regarding renewals, non-renewals, rewrites, intents to cancel, reinstatement opportunities, and other retention-focused initiatives.
  • Conduct comprehensive policy and account reviews to identify coverage gaps, recommend appropriate solutions, and improve household account penetration.
  • Drive customer retention by addressing concerns, resolving coverage issues, and presenting alternative options when policies are at risk of cancellation or non-renewal.
  • Generate cross-sell and account rounding opportunities by educating customers on additional insurance products and available coverage enhancements.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend coverage based on risk exposures and life changes.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive outreach and ongoing account management.
  • Process policy changes, proof of insurance requests, reinstatements, and cancellations in accordance with carrier guideline.
  • Complete new business service transactions, including collecting applications, invoicing mortgage companies, and initiating prior policy cancellations when necessary.
  • Document customer interactions, policy changes, retention efforts, and sales opportunities in the agency management system.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance products, carrier guidelines, coverage options, and industry trends.
  • Update the agency management system with details of all customer interactions and transactions.

Qualifications
  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience required.
  • High school diploma required
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills; also, be able to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must be detail-oriented and results-driven with a focus on a customer-centric approach to resolving every situation.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual or multi-lingual preferred.
  • Must be able to use different computer software programs related to quoting and binding insurance policies, as well as be able to learn new skills and technology quickly.
  • Prefer experience using a customer relationship management system.

  • Active P&C License required.
