Lead the Product Strategy, Recreational Products - Boat / Marine (P&C Insurance)
Location: Open to a Hybrid schedule in NY, NJ, Chicago, or Cincinnati office locations

Purpose:
The Product Manager is responsible for managing the profit and loss of their assigned line of business and supporting the AVP of Product in achieving strategic and financial goals. This role oversees and coordinates all aspects of the product, ensuring alignment with company goals, values, and strategies. The Product Manager serves as the day-to-day driver of product initiatives-defining, prioritizing, and executing enhancements across pricing, underwriting, and product development. Through cross-functional collaboration, they ensure initiatives are delivered on time, aligned with strategic intent, and grounded in operational and financial realities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of products to agents, markets, and consumers, ensuring quality, compliance, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Translate line of business (LOB) strategies into actionable product requirements and enhancements.
  • Plan and lead state-level product reviews, including determining and approving rate needs to maintain profitability.
  • Serve as the primary contact and key communicator with Sales (including RVPs and Territory Sales Managers), Actuarial, Underwriting, Marketing, and other stakeholders to gain alignment on product decisions.
  • Interpret and implement national product direction within assigned states or lines of business.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting to define and maintain underwriting guidelines and risk appetite by state.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Actuarial, IT, Compliance, and Operations to execute new product launches, filings, and ongoing updates.
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, manage feature timelines, and ensure delivery through partnership with Deployment and Configuration teams.
  • Participate in business readiness planning and support go-to-market strategies for product rollouts.
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards, including documentation and audit preparedness.
  • Conduct or support DOI complaints, Market Conduct research, premium waiver management, and state survey responses.
  • Provide specific product and system knowledge throughout the quote, issuance, and endorsement process.
  • Participate in market research and competitive analysis to inform innovation and continuous product improvement.
  • Support development of internal and external product communications and training materials.

Required Technical Skills:
  • Strong analytical abilities including understanding of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts
  • Strong command of Excel and MS Office Suite applications
  • General understanding of Pricing Segmentation, State Regulations, Reinsurance, Policy Contract Language, Product Management and Underwriting
  • Proven ability to lead, innovate and make decisions in order to foster and develop more advanced techniques as appropriate for the functional area.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
PM: Experience in Property & Casualty Insurance Product Development/Management; preferably in personal lines with a specialization American Modern product suite. Demonstrated leadership ability. Lead projects, demonstrate successful P&L management.
Sr. PM: 4+ Years Experience in Property & Casualty Insurance Product Development/Management; preferably in personal lines with a specialization American Modern product suite. Demonstrated leadership ability. Lead projects, demonstrate successful P&L management. Excellent problem solving and decision making skills are required.
Education, Certifications & Designations:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree Business, Finance, Math, Statistics or similar field

Preferred:
  • MBA or similar advanced degree, CPCU and/or FCAS, AINS

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Amelia (OH), Princeton (NJ), Chicago (IL), and NYC office locations. The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography. The base salary range anticipated for this position is $116,000-$270,000, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
