Job description

Purpose of Role:


We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys within the firmโ€™s litigation practice in Roseland, NJ. This position will support a dynamic team handling complex commercial litigation matters. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and play a critical role in ensuring the efficient management of matters from inception through resolution. This is a full-time, in-person role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily administrative and litigation support tasks, including document preparation, file organization, data management, and calendaring of critical deadlines.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and maintain attorney calendars, including court appearances, depositions, mediations, hearings, client meetings, and filing deadlines.
  • Electronically file legal documents in state and federal courts, including NJ E-Courts, NYSCEF, and PACER.
  • Assist attorneys with discovery management, document productions, exhibit preparation, and trial preparation.
  • Maintain case files and organize litigation materials in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and outside vendors while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Enter attorney time, assist with billing coordination, expense processing, and matter management using firm billing systems.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, meeting logistics, and other administrative support as needed.
  • Support multiple attorneys simultaneously while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet litigation deadlines and business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a legal assistant supporting litigation attorneys in a law firm environment.
  • Experience supporting commercial litigation matters is preferred.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with document management systems such as NetDocuments, SurePoint, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court filing procedures and litigation deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished and professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and proofreading legal documents.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.

Compensation & Benefits:


This position offers a salary range of $75,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Support staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and a merit-based increase. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, and access to additional voluntary programs. The posted salary range reflects the base pay range for this position.
