Role Overview

The Learning & Development Specialist is primarily responsiblefor the development and delivery of comprehensive training programs forBusiness Operation staff, including Processing and Call Center functions.
The Learning & Development Specialist will support thedevelopment of high-quality learning solutions using adult learning bestpractices. Working collaboratively with internal clients and subject matterexperts, the incumbent will provide onboarding support and address knowledgegaps for performance and effectiveness. Success in this role requires strongorganizational, communication, facilitation, and troubleshooting skills alongwith a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Role Responsibilitiesย 

Design and Development

  • Update and maintain instructional content using adult learning principles and design standards while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Design learning materials and training solutions for defined business needs under general guidance.
  • Develop supporting materials for remote and classroom learning programs, including lesson plans, facilitator guides, learner materials, practical exercises, and engaging activities.
  • Create professional instructional materials for self-paced learning, including e-learning, videos, training scripts, quizzes, and job aids.
  • Develop learning exercises, simulations, test cases, and assessments that reinforce key concepts and support skill development through practical application.
  • Actively collect learner feedback and training metrics to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.

Facilitation

  • Deliver standard training courses, maintain training records, and conduct post-session reviews with stakeholders to improve learning effectiveness and streamline training delivery.
  • Facilitate classroom learning by leveraging effective facilitation techniques, such as leading group and individual activities, asking questions to guide discussion, redirecting participants toward task completion, and maintaining professionalism while managing overall class dynamics.
  • Coordinate logistics for learning events and prepare training resources, including test cases and TRAIN environments.

Teamwork and Partnership

  • Manage assignments, communicate progress to team members, and seek or provide assistance as needed.
  • Contribute to team goals and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with learners, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders.
  • Follow established processes and guidelines while seeking guidance and support from team members.

Technology Skills

  • Create eLearning modules using Articulate 360 or other authoring tools.
  • Maintain and enhance test cases to support training activities.
  • Configure and manage TRAIN environments for test scenarios.
  • Maintain learning assets, records, and course information within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Maintain and improve the questions database in Clever Nelly.

Minimum Qualifications

Critical Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in learning and development, adult learning, instructional design, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience coordinating, facilitating, and delivering learning and development programs.
  • A Professional Certification in Adult Education is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Articulate 360 or similar eLearning authoring tools is required.
  • Advanced skills in web conferencing tools and calendaring capabilities, such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Highly effective facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present business and technical concepts plainly and simply.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and support skills.
  • Continuous learning mindset and commitment to professional development.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work on projects independently.
  • A high level of initiative and motivation.

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the mutual fund or financial services is an asset.
  • Business processing orquality control experience on iFast is an asset.

Salary Range

Pay Range (CAD ): 63,000 - 79,000
The above reflects an industry-benchmarked target compensation range. The salary offered may vary based upon the candidate's skills and experience, job-related knowledge, and other specific business needs.
