Job description

Role Description

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of insurance coverage experience to join our New York, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analyzing complex insurance policies and handling coverage-related disputes.

Our Professional Liability Practice Group is known for its comprehensive approach to handling matters related to complex insurance claims analysis and representing insurance company clients in some of the most high-stakes coverage litigation cases across the country, including cases involving Directors and Officers (D&O), Errors and Omissions (E&O), and professional liability.

This position is hybrid in our New York City office.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze insurance coverage issues involving professional lines claims, including D&O/management liability, and E&O matters.
  • Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and other coverage-related communications.
  • Evaluate claims, policies, and underlying litigation materials to assess coverage obligations and potential exposure.
  • Assist with coverage litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and related litigation materials.
  • Advise insurance company clients on coverage matters and collaborate with claims professionals, adjusters, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate with clients and opposing counsel and participate in court hearings and oral arguments.

What We're Looking For

  • Active license to practice law in New York and in good standing
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • At least 3 years of experience handling insurance coverage matters under D&O, E&O or EPL liability policies. Cyber coverage experience a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and law clerks
  • Exceptional legal writing, research, organizational, and advocacy skills
  • Experience in a billable-hour environment preferred

Salary commensurate with experience:
$125,000—$155,000 USD
