Job description

As Director of Financial Accounting, you'll lead core accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and shape the processes and teams that drive financial excellence across the organization.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Oversee insurance accounting, including reserves, reinsurance, and catastrophe-related activity
  • Maintain strong internal controls and SOX compliance; support internal and external audits
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and establish policies aligned with GAAP and regulatory standards
  • Partner cross-functionally to align accounting with business operations and strategic initiatives
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and team development within the accounting function
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the financial accounting function, ensuring accounting operations support accurate and reliable financial reporting.
  • Establish clear accounting standards, expectations, and governance across operational accounting activities performed by accounting management and staff.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • 8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting or technical accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in P&C insurance or a regulated financial services environment
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, insurance accounting, and internal control frameworks (SOX)
  • Proven ability to assess complex transactions and provide sound accounting judgment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional partnership skills
