The Accounting Leader reports directly to either an Insurance Accounting Manager or the Director of Insurance Accounting, and indirectly to the business leader. This individualis responsible forall aspects offinancial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

  • Prepares and analyzes the monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statement reporting packages for distribution to the corporate and executive leadership team

  • Responsible for the completion of the month-end close process.

  • Overseesall activities within the accounting department.

  • Leads and supports the work of accounting professional personnel at all levels.

  • Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.

  • Oversees all general ledger transactions to ensure both proper accounting treatment and adherence to corporate policies and procedures

  • Reviews accounting processes and recommends changes or improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness

  • Responsible formaintainingthe accuracy and reliability of the internal control framework surrounding financial reporting

  • Assistin the completion of the budget process for the Profit Centers and related financial analysis on the budgets

  • Assistin the completion of the quarterly forecasting for the Profit Centers and related financial analysis on the forecasts.

  • Responsible for internal, external,state,and regulatory audits of the office.

  • Perform compliance procedures as required by Brown & Brown and the industry.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPA(preferred)

Skills & Experience to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in an accounting or financial leadership role

  • Proven leadership skills in managing and developing a team

  • Must have experience in delivering projects and initiatives that deliver measurable financial results with a focus on driving organic growth

  • Proven ability to effectively interact with senior leadership in a dynamic environment

  • Expert levelproficiencyin Microsoft suite; focus on Excel,PowerPointand Word

  • Experience with Agency Management systems(preferred)

  • Insurance Background(preferred)

  • Master's/ MBA Degree(preferred)

  • ProficiencywithIMS(preferred)
