Title: Group Fitness Instructor (Part-Time)
Department: Leisure Services
Division: Community Center
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Group Fit Instructor is responsible for conducting safe and effective exercise classes. Assist participants in achieving exercise goals while creating a fun workout environment for all participants as needed to coordinate the organization and operation of the Washington City Community Center Fitness Facilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the Fitness Coordinator's direct supervision and the Operations Manager's general supervision.

None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Instruct class format according to schedule and adhering to WCCC standards. The instructor is responsible for conducting safe, effective exercise classes and assisting participants in achieving exercise goals while creating a fun workout environment for all participants. Group Fitness Instructors are high-energy, knowledgeable in format, and motivate others through movement and instruction within a group fitness class. Consistently provide an exceptional fitness experience to all members through education and encouragement. Instructors are expected to maintain current certifications and any CEC's required.
Other group fitness-related duties as assigned by the fitness coordinator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Education and Experience:
  1. Graduation from high school, plus one (1) year of specialized training in group fitness or other related field;

AND
NCCA-Accredited Group Fitness Certification or Personal Training, plus CPR/AED
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow instructors, and the public. Be available for reviews and feedback. Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm. Ability to effectively demonstrate skills being taught to participants. Ability to provide clear instruction and modifications if needed. General knowledge and experience with kinesiology, exercise science, physical fitness, etc
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally must aid or assist participants. The employee must have a high degree of energy, be physically fit, and have the endurance to complete the workout.
