Job description

Position Overview

ESI Total Fuel Management is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer / Technical Writer to support the development of technical documentation, training materials, and instructional content for mission critical fuel management systems and data center infrastructure.

This role is responsible for translating complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation and learning content for both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate has strong writing and organizational skills, experience collaborating cross-functionally, and a passion for creating high-quality instructional and technical content.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, installation guides, workflows, FAQs, and instructional content
  • Translate complex technical information into clear and concise documentation for multiple audiences
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Production, and Customer Support teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy
  • Organize and maintain documentation libraries and knowledge management systems
  • Create and manage instructional materials, course content, workflows, and storyboards
  • Participate in product development and design meetings to stay current on product updates and changes
  • Utilize documentation and authoring tools including Microsoft Office, Adobe Framemaker, MadCap Flare, Captivate, XML, HTML, and related software
  • Support content management, version control, and digital asset management processes
  • Ensure documentation complies with company and industry standards
  • Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in instructional design, technical writing, DAM/MAM systems, and AI-driven metadata management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant technical writing, instructional design, or content development experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience creating technical and instructional documentation for multiple audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Framemaker, MadCap Flare, or similar documentation tools
  • Understanding of content management systems and documentation workflows
  • Familiarity with DAM/MAM systems and software development concepts preferred
